Art. 15 of the Interstate Study Accreditation Treaty states: “The Accreditation system shall be evaluated regularly and within a reasonable period of time, for the first time five years after the entry into force of this State Treaty, on behalf of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs and the German Rectors’ Conference, in particular with regard to the organizational structure and operation of the Foundation as well as other procedural regulations.”
On this basis, the German Accreditation Council will once again conduct an ENQA review in 2026, following up on the previous review conducted in 2021–22.
Through an evaluation by a panel of experts from the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), compliance with the Standards and Guidelines for quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) is assessed. This entails the German Accreditation Council Foundation’s membership in ENQA and, at the same time, the continuation of its registration in the European Register of Accreditation Agencies (EQAR).
The ENQA peer review report from the previous ESG evaluation in 2021–22 can be accessed here . The 2021 SAR can be found here.
In addition, the German Accreditation Council has been listed in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) since 01.06.2022. The German Accreditation Council’s entry in the register is available here.
