Prof. Dr. Andrej Gill (1983) has been a professor of corporate finance at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz since 2017; prior to that, he worked as an assistant professor and postdoctoral researcher at Goethe University Frankfurt. He studied economics with a focus on economics and finance in Frankfurt and earned his Ph.D. there in 2013 with a dissertation on corporate finance. His research focuses on corporate finance, behavioral finance, and managerial economics, as well as related areas of empirical finance and economics.
In his research, Andrej Gill combines traditional financial economics with current topics such as innovation, venture capital, public finance, algorithmic transparency, and sustainability-related investment decisions.
His work has been published in renowned international journals, including *Management Science*, *Information Systems Research*, *Journal of Corporate Finance*, *Journal of Banking & Finance*, and *Research Policy*. In his teaching, he covers a broad range of topics in finance and economics and has received numerous awards for his teaching excellence.
In addition to research and teaching, Andrej Gill is actively involved in academic self-governance and the strategic development of academic programs and teaching. As director of the Gutenberg Lehrkolleg, he plays a key role in promoting teaching quality and innovation; he also contributes to university-wide strategic processes regarding the future of teaching. From 2019 to 2025, he also served as Academic Director of the Gutenberg School of Business, with a focus on the further development of selected continuing education programs.
